MAXtech Podcast Episode 2: What Is SEO?
Getting high-volume, quality
traffic to your site is hard. Internet users are finicky creatures with high
expectations and incredibly short attention spans. They’re looking for the
information they want, and they want it now—and
you better give it to them, or they’re leaving for the next site.
You can’t stop everyone from
leaving; you can’t even stop most of the people leaving. What you can do,
though, is drive organic traffic to your site and give them information they
want and need to make a decision. To drive that qualified traffic, you use
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to target keywords that you know your audience
is searching for.
To get that organic traffic, you
have to know what your audience is looking for, and you have to know how the
search engine algorithms that parse searches and deliver results weight those
results. It’s a delicate and ever-changing balance. But if you get it right,
you’ll get tons of users coming to your site, and they’ll find then information
they need. Even if they don’t make a decision on that visit, they’ll
return—again, if you do it right.
There’s a lot that goes into a
good SEO process, but this is a very brief overview of what all goes into SEO:
