Second Life is a 3-D, virtual reality world that is created entirely by the residents.  You can socialize,  interact and chat with the other users.   The web site was developed in 2003 by a company called Linden Labs.   It’s still very new to everyone but has been picking up some steam since 2006 with all of the media attention it has been getting.

Why are we talking about a virtual world on a marketing blog?  Simple, second life should be considered one of your secret marketing weapons.  There are still very few businesses on second life and even fewer of them understand how to use it to drum up business for their products or services.

 Second Life has its own economy with real estate and currency.  The currency used in second life is called Linden Dollars.  266 Linden Dollars equals 1 US dollar.   Owning land in second life is the same as in real life.  You need to pay monthly fees or “taxes”  in order to do so.
