What is Mobile Marketing?

February 11, 2010 | mobile marketing, web 3.0 | 0 Comments »

What is mobile marketing?

When I refer to mobile marketing, I’m referring to marketing on a mobile device, such as  receiving a text message from a vendor with a promotional code, buying products right from your blackberry or picture messages that depict a product you may be interested in.

There is also a second, more traditional definition of mobile marketing which describes marketing in a moving fashion. An example of this would be moving billboards. Travel to any major city and you will see many examples of both types of mobile marketing. Just note that, in going forward, we’re solely talking about mobile devices. Ok, good. We have that cleared up.
There are a variety of different marketing methods with mobile phones, the most popular being SMS, or short messaging service (text messages). Other forms of mobile marketing include MMS, in-game marketing and mobile Web marketing.

Marketing on Iphones – Mobile Marketing

November 10, 2009 | mobile marketing | 0 Comments »

I’ll start with a disclaimer.  I do not own an Iphone.  I’m rocking a blackberry curve.

While I do love my blackberry for email and speed, I continue to wish I had an Iphone as well.  But not yet as I have Verizon Wirless

Here are three reasons I want an Iphone:

  • I’m more of a high-tech person
  • Tens of thousands of applications to run my business with (and personal life)
  • They are setting the bar for mobile marketing

If you’re an avid reader of this blog you know that I’m a huge fan of mobile marketing.

I urge you to start learning more about Iphones and the different applications they offer and how they could impact your business.

Some businesses would benefit from having an application, some would benefit from using the different applications.

Long story short — mobile is here to stay and growing each and everyday

Web 3.0 — More about the shift that is taking place

February 3, 2009 | web 3.0 | 0 Comments »

A major shift is taking place on the world wide web. We’re moving from a web 2.0 driven world to a web 3.0 one. While this shift is going to take a substantial amount of time it is already taking place.

The key to understanding web 3.0 is to look at browsing and buying habits.  Everyone has limited time, wants information quickly,  in a logical and organized fashion, so they can make the best buying decision.  We also want to be able to access this information from anywhere in the world on a variety of different devices.

Take one device example, mobile phones.  The number of people with mobile phones is increasing at an exponential rate as compared to the number of new people using the internet from a home computer.   How easier can it be to get information then from a mobile device at your fingertips?

Web 3.0 provides people more intelligent information at lighting speed paces allowing them to make the best decisions.  It also allows us to communicate in a variety of different capacities from virtual reality worlds to live streaming video and audio!  Web 3.0 will continue to shape the web!

What’s in Store for 2009 in the Online Marketing Arena?

December 31, 2008 | web 3.0 | 0 Comments »

2009 is going to be an instrumental year in shaping how we market online over
the next 3-5 years!

Most recently the latest online marketing trend has been web 2.0 marketing.
The essence of web 2.0 has been focused largely around leveraging new and innovative
web sites to create new visitors and prospects to your site with the core concept
of starting a new relationship.

Some of the most popular web 2.0 sites are facebook, myspace, wikipedia and
you tube. While we don’t see this trend going away anytime soon, we do see a
shift taking place in how these sites are being used along with some new players
coming into the game that will further change the way we market online.

Instantly at Taz Solutions, Inc. when Tim O’ Riley coined the phrase “Web
2.0″ we started using terms like Web 3.0 and Web 4.0 to demonstrate that
the web will continue to evolve and shift at a rapid pace.

Web 3.0 is going to take the key notion of relationship building and collaboration
to a another level. We see this happening in the first two quarters of 2009.
Using technology, consumers, and businesses are going to continue to collaborate,
network and share information via the web at lightning speed paces. Web 3.0
will amplify this effect.

How quickly can you put up a youtube video that says why you hate a certain
product? How long does it take for that video to find its way to the media and
possibly wind up on CNN? Web 3.0 will allow this to happen at a quicker pace
on a much larger scale. That video may not only show up on cnn.com it also could
make its way to the top of stumbledupon.com, second life, or even on 43things.com.
Information is the name of the game. Consumers at drone like paces continue
to visit the web for information.

Some examples of Web 3.0 Marketing Include:

• Mobile Marketing — how many of you have blackberry’s and I-Phones?

• Live Streaming Video and Internet TV — heard of UStream.com?

• Software as a service — Google App’s & Salesforce.com

• Virtual Reality Worlds — Second Life

These are just a few of the many examples of web 3.0 marketing, in the coming
months we will provide more depth on upcoming web 3.0 sites you need to be leveraging
along with more competitive information on web 3.0 as a whole. This is a bandwagon
you need to get on and quickly!

To a healthy, fun and prosperous New Years!
