The main purpose of online marketing is to drive as much traffic to your site as possible. Providing fantastic content is one of the most effective ways to attract users to your site. Article marketing is an important part of your SEO strategy.
Article marketing is when businesses promote their products and services to their target customers by submitting informative articles to online directories. These online directories usually have a very large user base and also a strong reputation in the online world, so articles published on them bring in a lot of traffic to a site.
How does it work?
Every article published on these online directories contains a resource box which contains the name and contact details of the business, along with a link to its website. Therefore, when someone reads the article, they will see the business information and link, and will hopefully click the link and be directed to the web site. The goal is to bring in customers to increase online sales. In this way, article marketing can achieve the objectives of an online business.
To make article marketing efforts effective, you have to write relevant and user centric articles. In other words, in order to entice the users read your article, it should cater to their area of interest and must present valuable information. If an article is able to do this, the chances of a user visiting the company’s site become much higher.
You also want to create an effective resource box. The resource box is the opportunity for a business to advertise itself effectively. Therefore, the information in it must be made interesting enough to make the readers visit the website. The resource box must be updated regularly to make it further appealing to the readers.
Lastly, it is highly important to write articles using the appropriate keywords. It is wise to undertake keyword research to find the relevant keywords and use them in the right amount.

Lately we have often been hearing the terms “Cloud Computing”, “the cloud”, and “virtualization”.. What do these mean and what do they have in store for the future of the internet?
Generally speaking, there is the all encompassing term “the cloud”. The cloud is comprised of 3 services:
- Software as a service (cloud application): Consumer oriented applications where data is delivered to the end user without the user’s single machine having to do the heavy lifting, and the server’s workload is not distributed. Examples of this are Gmail, salesforce.com and Google Docs.
- Infrastructure as a service: Computer operating systems, applications and databases delivered right over the internet without having to install. They give you optimal tech support, because the Infrastructure you are handling is out in the open and ready to receive help by an IT hand.
- Platform as a service: This is for the developers. It gives them access to web based tools that aid in the development of websites. An example of this is Google’s App Engine.
Together these 3 systems work to revolutionize the way consumers, developers and business owners operates their niche.

Before choosing a template or designing a custom blog, you need to consider the layout and function. The web is evolving all the time and we are always experimenting with new ways to display our content. As we all say here at Tazsol – Content is King! The blog design should enhance your content, provide a good experience to the readers, and express what your blog/brand stands for. It will bring visitors back to your site and entice them regularly with updated/new content and open communication.
Here are the top five rules to consider when designing your blog:
1. Simplicity – Be very careful to not overload your blog with tons of plugins, widgets, etc. Going overboard with these will make your blog look cluttered & distract your readers. Choose features wisely and keep it to a minimum.
2. Choosing the Right Color Scheme – Make sure to pick a color scheme that matches your current site design and/or logo. You don’t want to have a blog that looks completely different from your website. Keep it consistent.
3. Easy Navigation – Make sure that your page links in the navigation are in a noticeable/obvious place (across the lower part of the header or in the sidebars). You do not want to have your readers searching for the links.
4. Easy to Classify – Within the first seconds of visiting your blog, the reader should be able to identify what your blog is about. This can be done by having a prominent headline/tagline and by including a small description that is visible when the reader lands on the blog.
5. Include a RSS feed – These days, more and more people are taking advantage of feeds. Make sure to include links to the RSS feed throughout the blog in locations that will grab the readers attention. Ex: tazsol.com/blog – In the right hand sidebar, you will see how we do this by allowing our readers to subscribe to our feed. Each time a new blog post is added, the reader that has subscribed is notified.

For the past several months, online marketers have started making predictions about the future of Search Engine Optimization and the trends that will take place in 2011. Now that the year has begun, here are some things that we think will help online marketers make the most of SEO in 2011.
Social media presence – Having your website on social media networks will help improve rankings on Google. If a website has strong presence over social media, it will command high ranking. Thus online marketers need to give high importance to Social Media Optimization.
Twitter is a must – As a means of connecting to the public, Twitter has gained high reputation. It has been observed that Twitter is capable of driving huge traffic. Therefore, marketers must include Twitter while devising SEO strategy.
Coded Facebook pages – With Facebook’s importance growing this year, coded Facebook pages will give your business an edge with an interactive touch, generating leads as well as increasing conversation rate.
Trustbait instead of linkbait – Links coming from independent online sources rather than those links that are contextually linked to a site are better for Search Engines. This refers to Trustbait and is a vital part of online marketing.
SEO to grow more comprehensive – In 2011, the term SEO will need to expand and be more all inclusive.
The demand for SEO will only continue to grow and make the task of online marketers more challenging as well as rewarding.

On September 8th 2010, Google instant search was released to the United States. With this new way to search, Google expects to save 2 to 5 seconds in every search. That may seem like a small number but just think about how many Google searches you make in a week or even in a day! Pennies in the jar that add up over time are what that sounds like to me.
This way of searching will affect how a website does SEO business and how users are targeted.
- End user searches will be found quicker.
- Searches will be refined on the fly.
- Chances are, the second page of searches will no longer be viewed any more.
- Long tail search keywords will be less valuable. It will be more about understanding the users behavior while they search.
How will this affect the user and the business man? The end user, the person conducting these searches, will adapt to this new way of searching and being to form searches in different ways. This will, of course, be a silent evolution, but it will become common place. The following is an illustration of the difference that is going to take place. It is like the difference between live support and email support. For email support (Google’s old way of doing things) you send a support ticket on a question you have and you receive a response. Now, Google’s new way of searching is the equivalent of talking to a customer service representative, who can give you choices of how you can be helped before you reach the end of your question.
For the business man with the website, this is good news and bad news! Chances are, if your website has high rankings on a certain keyword then your web site will be displayed more often while people are searching that particular keyword. Therefore, potentially increasing traffic to your web site.
This is bad news for the traditional way of searching. End users now behave differently, and don’t perform searches the way they used to as mentioned earlier. This will then cause traditional long tail ad words to be view differently and put all companies on a level playing field. For example, if I was look up a flight to New York City, I would begin my search with “New York City”. Before I even type “flights” ads would instantly pop up for NYC hotels, travel deals, NY official site, NY vacation packages, etc. Why would I need to type anything further than “New York City”? This shows how competition for the shorter terms rather than the long tail terms is going to become more intense.
Google continues to amaze us with each optimization and update. Moving into the future, one thing is certain, we will all need to adapt and also figure out HOW we adapt to this rapid change that will cause us to search and market in a whole new way in 2011.

Small business owners and newbies to the Web tend to clog up their websites, specifically their homepage. It’s a common mistake that I am seeing over and over again.
The homepage is the landing space for everyone who seeks you out online. It should be well laid out and organized. It should let your brand breathe and not be crowded. Too much text or copy on the homepage can overwhelm your audience. Think of your homepage like a jacket cover to a book. It should have a picture, a title (or branding tagline), your name and a description of what the site is about. Make it short and condensed. Your homepage tabs (also called verticals) are where your audience can go deeper into your site and find more information about your product and services. Anywhere from 5 to 7 is a good amount, the topic verticals can also have a drop down menu, which is helpful.
2 Key Tips to Remember:
The homepage is NOT about YOU, it’s about your CLIENT. It should engage and promote enthusiasm for your product. It should be outcome focused.
Pick a tagline that is geared towards the consumer and answers the question of how they will benefit from your product or service. Steve Job’s tagline for the iPod was “A thousand songs in your pocket.” In this tagline his target market is defined along with the benefit they will get in buying an ipod. It’s simple, short and clear.
More Tips:
Site readers have a shorten attention span and are always one click away to something else.
How can you really capture your audience? Give them something for free, develop a free opt-in on your homepage.
Have a logo.
Putting too much content on the homepage loses your audience. They are overwhelmed.
Make sure to have several people look over your site before you launch it. Errors happen.
Blogs are important and you should have one.
At Taz we love using Wordpress and highly recommend it!
I hope these tips are helpful! The homepage is your one chance to reach your target audience, it’s not often they come around twice. Make sure to spend time getting it done right by giving your brand some much deserved breathing room.

WordPress is the largest self-hosted blogging site in the world, and for good reason. There are tons of features that make it the go-to site to create a website or blog. Here are my top reasons why you should use Wordpress.
Open Source Software
It uses open source software, which means that it can be used free of cost. It is built on PHP and MySQL, which again reiterates it being open source and also means that it can be fully customized to fit your needs.
User Friendly
You don’t have to be experienced with any kind of coding to use WordPress. With its easy to use dashboard you can add articles and post entries within seconds.
Themes Support
There are prebulit templates abound in the internet today, which means thousands of custom made WordPress sites. These provide a shell for you to choose from Plugins which extend functionality.
Plugins
WordPress plugins allow you to do just about anything that you want and have the ability to be installed in a matter of moments.
Standards Compliant
WordPress is one software that follows all the web standards and keeps your blog or website compliant to all the rules that have to be followed.
SEO Friendly
Search Engines definitely have to be kept in mind when building a website. WordPress uses different functions which allow it to be search engine friendly. For example, sending pings to other sites, making categories, tagging your posts, use of h1/h2 tags etc.

With the recent changes in Facebook groups, there had been a lot of users who are abusing one of its features to their advantage. I am talking about a new Facebook group feature where in users are able to add you to their group with or without your permission. You would likely find out that you were added to a group after a sudden influx of e-mail notifications about group activities or watching the little badge at the top of your Facebook home page constantly light up with new updates.
While it is true that people can add you to their group, the same goes for you adding people to your group. You also have the option to leave a group that you do not want to be in. So how do you use this new Facebook group feature properly and ethically? The answer lies within how well you genuinely interact with your group and how well you establish your group.
If you do not interact with your group on a daily basis chances are people in the group would lose interest and therefore leave your group. If you have nothing interesting to share or something interesting to talk about, people will leave your group. If you spam your group with products you are selling then people will really want to leave your group.
I would say Facebook groups are much better than a Facebook page. Both Facebook page and Facebook group has features like wall, photos, discussions, etc, but a Facebook page does not have a feature where in you can send an email to all your group members. This feature is beneficial in a way that you can convert these group members into visitors and perhaps customers.

This is a handy little tool that not many people are aware of, but Google has made free for quite some time. The best part is, it’s hidden in plain sight. Let me walk you through a simple tour. Open Google and do a search for a keyword related to your web site. To the left hand side of the search results you will see a link called “Wonder wheel” towards the bottom. Click the link and enter Google Wonder Wheel.
Simply stated, the wonder wheel creates a wheel of keywords that Google feels are related to your original keyword. Why is this so wondrous you ask? Because Google is telling you the other keywords that it feels should be found on your site. By including these other related keywords in your SEO and web design you increase your chances of Google recognizing your page as relevant to the original word.
Google then gives you the ability to search even deeper by creating paths of keywords. If you click on a word it will then open a new wheel of words related to the one you clicked on. This begins to open your eyes to potential routes searchers may take to get to the keyword you are targeting.

In the web design industry, trends change rapidly. Trends shift when it comes to aspects such as accomplishing the right feel of a site and creating the best the user interface.
Although the year of 2010 is coming to an end, the revolution in web design this year has led designers to achieve extraordinary web designs, while continuing to set the unlimited parameters of it.
Below are the top 3 web design trends of 2010:
1. Huge headline and images – More and more websites today are sporting huge headlines and/or images. This is a great way to grab users attention and invite them in. It creates a great visual impact that will help the visitor to remember your website.
2. More visual effects – Pay attention to the backgrounds of most web designs these days. Web Designers are replacing backgrounds with patterns or subtle/textured backgrounds. Doing so gives the site a nicer look and more modern web 3.0 feel as well as creating a visual effect for the website tone and feel.
3. Social media icons/links – This is a must! This is a great way for visitors to connect with you and for you to interact with them. The best way to do this is by placing social media icons/links in above your header, in the footer, sidebar or wherever you think is best on your website design.
So there you have it. These are the top 3 trends to consider for your upcoming web design projects or redesign of your website/blog. Be creative!
