Become an Expert

June 10, 2010 | Multiple Streams of Traffic | 0 Comments »

A great way to market yourself is to be known as an expert in what you do. It may not seem that easy to accomplish, but using our method of Multiple Streams of Targeted Traffic, you could go from nothing to expert in 3-6 months. Here’s how it works.

We’ve been developing this strategy over the past ten years. Before I talk about what Multiple Streams of Targeted Traffic is, I’m going to tell you what it is not. Targeted traffic is not the “shock and approach” tactic, which basically means you throw stuff out to the audience and see what sticks. Then you approach. That is not what we do.

For Multiple Streams of Targeted Traffic, essentially you are finding all the different traffic sources (social media) that your target audience is using. For example, if your target audience is men and women with an income of half a million dollars and they’re above the age of 60, then you should focus on Ecademy.com or LinkedIn.com, not MySpace.

The main idea of Multiple Streams of Targeted Traffic is to find all the different sources you can. You want to leverage Google, so you will do some SEO and Pay Per Click. You will use social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. YouTube is another great site to utilize because you can upload videos and create your own channel.

What ends up happening is you will have many different streams of traffic, all pulling people to your web site. Once you establish a presence on all these different outlets, you can start to see the benefits on Multiple Streams of Targeted Traffic.  For example, say your business is about helping people retire. Someone goes on Google and searches “retiring after 50″. Not only will you come up in the Pay Per Click results, but you will be in the Top 10. Maybe you YouTube channel also ranks, same with your Facebook profile. Basically, you will start controlling the space. When you control the space, you will be recognized as an expert.

Another reason why Multiple Streams of Targeted Traffic is such an effective method, is because you are not putting all your eggs in one basket. If one of the sides were to go down, out of business, etc, you would have a strong presence on many other sites.

The Shift from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0

May 6, 2010 | E-commerce, Multiple Streams of Traffic, Online Marketing, Online Strategy, online marketing trends, second life, web 3.0 | 0 Comments »

Web 2.0 began when Web users started to drastically change the way they were using the Web on a day-to-day basis. The main trends that shaped Web 2.0 include content sharing, creativity, segmentation, social components, and added functionality. The four key components of Web 2.0 are Social Networks, Social Media, User-Generated Content, and Social News and Bookmarketing. Although these components have been king of the mountain for a time, there are limitations and loopholes, which in turn, become fresh opportunities.

Enter Web 3.0. Web 3.0 describes the next wave that is already taking place and is the shift from Web 2.0. The key driving factors to Web 3.0 include browsing habits, browsing methods, more intelligent information, the experience we’re looking for, and the openness of the Web. BlackBerrys and iPhones, portals into Web 3.0, are ruling the day. Simplified: Web 3.0 marketing is the convergence of new technologies and rapidly changing consumer buying trends.

Live, streaming video is outpacing static video, and companies like Twitter, Plurk, and Jaiku are growing much more rapidly than Blogger, WordPress, or TypePad. The Web 3.0 marketing world is where customized, intelligent information is available at our fingertips, on any device, from anywhere in the world!

The Five Key Components of Web 3.0:

  • Microblogging is the ability to share your thoughts with a set number of characters. People are busy with limited time, so why not get right to the point of the story in 140 characters or fewer? Examples include Twitter, Plurk, and Jaiku.
  • Virtual reality worlds are places users visit to interact with others from around the world in a 3-D setting. Meetings are being conducted in these spaces, and trade shows are being replaced with virtual reality shows. Examples include Second Life and Funsites.
  • Customization/personalization allows visitors to create a more personalized experience. They are starting to expect their name to appear at the top of Web sites, personal e-mails, and even advanced checkout options that suit their buying habits. As the Web becomes more and more intelligent, personalization will be the norm. Examples include SendOutCards, Google, and Amazon.
  • Mobile plays on the fact that there are billions of cellphone users throughout the world. This number is much larger than those that use PCs. Consumers are surfing the Web and purchasing products right from their mobile phones. They are also using their phones and becoming instant journalists by shooting raw footage of random acts. Examples include iPhone and BlackBerry.
  • On-demand collaboration allows users to interact in real time by looking over documents, collaborating, and making changes in real time. Software as a service also fits into on-demand collaboration as it allows users to leverage only Web-based solutions. Examples include Google Docs, Salesforce.com, Slideshare.net, and Box.net.

Web 3.0 Apps – Take Advantage of These!

April 29, 2010 | E-commerce, Multiple Streams of Traffic, internet marketing, mobile marketing, web 3.0 | 0 Comments »

An “app” (which is shorthand for “application”) is a piece of software that may be found on your computer, on your mobile phone, or across the Web. Originally, all software programs were called “apps” But recently apps have come to be used specifically to refer to the small programs found on iPhones and now other smartphones, Facebook, and Google. They typically help you do something and make your life a little easier in a big way. For example, the iPhone has an application that allows you to put your phone up to the radio (or any type of speaker) to have the app search for and find the name and musician for the song that is playing!

Over the past two years, the development of different apps has been growing at an extraordinary rate. Even more significant is the use of the apps, which is primarily for many of the Web 3.0 sites and marketing tactics we have discussed.

Rather than only talking about the traditional apps in your marketing, there are three totally different ways of looking at apps. First, think of the apps for general business use. These apps will make your job easier, create more revenue, and make communication with your prospects and clients easier. Second, think of using apps in your Web 3.0 marketing. These are the apps that can be used for mobile marketing, in targeted forums, in microblogging, and the like. Third, think of apps as a possible lead generator or profit house. Entire businesses are being made solely for developing, selling, or giving away apps.

Selling apps is one way to generate revenue. But giving away apps is an even more powerful way. As we’ve discussed before, one of the best marketing tactics for generating leads is to offer free stuff, whether it’s a whitepaper, a CD/DVD, or an app. Give first, and it will all work out in the end!

I personally use apps to make my businesses run more smoothly, to keep me productive, and to have some fun along the way.

Business Video Marketing

April 27, 2010 | Multiple Streams of Traffic, Online Marketing, Viral Marketing, internet marketing, marketing campaigns, web 3.0 | 0 Comments »

There is no doubt of the huge video craze across the world. Everything has been shifting from text and audio to video. We want to seethings rather than just reador hear them. The social-proof factor (“hey, I saw it instead of just reading it”), entertainment factor, ease of use, and ability to find pretty much anything online continues to drive the video market and its popularity.

One major shift that has occurred is the shift from physical DVD viewing to the availability of on-demand viewing. If you want something, you typically want it now. You don’t wnt to get in the car, strap the kids in the car seats, and hike down to Blockbuster or the local Family Video store only to find that the movie you wanted to see has been sold out for days. Now you don’t have to. With the various subscription services, you can download the movie to your computer or watch a library of movies via your cable or satellite subscriptions.

We are a now society, especially when it comes to entertainment. This is one of the many reasons YouTube has become such a phenomenon. You can visit the Web site and be entertained for hours with videos on everything from concerts, comedy scenes, and home videos, to teenagers acting crazy, firework displays, and worldwide news. What really has made YouTube popular is the fact that it is user-generated content. Want to become an instant movie star? Grab a video camera, start shooting, push a button, upload your video, and forward it to your entire e-mail address book. If the content sticks, it very well may go viral.

2009 In Review, 2010 Marketing Trends Revieled

January 7, 2010 | Multiple Streams of Traffic, Online Marketing, internet marketing, marketing campaigns, mobile marketing, online marketing trends | 0 Comments »

Boy, was 2009 a fun year or what?  Regardless of how you viewed the year, we’re on our way to welcoming 2010 very shortly!

Without further awe due,  our strategic recap of the year and predictions for 2010:

Notable Trends from 2009:

  • Decline in consumer confidence
  • Decline in purchasing power
  • It became much harder to sell anything above $100
  • Customer service requests skyrocketed
  • A crazy real estate market (and for the people that sell products/services into this market)
  • Webinar sales dropped (anything over $497)
  • High end coaching sales dropped (anything over $497/month)
  • Membership site sales/continuity sales flourished
  • Attendance at physical seminars dropped
  • Attendance at virtual seminars climbed

Everything continued to move to the web -– we are becoming more and more mobile and virtual

One of my favorite quotes is as follows:

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.
~ Albert Einstein

The way I see it, it’s a miracle that we all survived in 2009 with our businesses still in-tact.  The key I want to point out however is the last point on the 2009 trends —  everything continued to move to the web.   My grandpa is on facebook and twitter (which I think is amazing), Pizza companies are letting people order their food online (small mom and pop shops, not just the big ones), customer service is going virtual, events are moving from in person to over the web.   This is a trend that cannot be ignored and one that is showing no signs of stopping.   Many companies are now making it mandatory for their employees to take a class on social media and beyond!  The good thing is:  you’ve got us on your side. We stay on top of the trends so you don’t have to keep up with the ever changing movements.

Lets move onto some of my strategic predictions for 2010:

  • Blogging is coming back baby!  Yes, that’s right.  Consumers and businesses are flocking to blogs for great content.   Google also continues to index sites much higher that have blogs.  Ill give you an example:  Google  blackberry marketing strategy.   Our blog is #4 in the search engines out of almost a million sites, from a single blog post.  Yes we worked our magic a bit as well, but this started with a blog post
  • Continuity is the name of the game — we’re encouraging ALL of our clients to have at least one stream of passive revenue from the web.   We want to make sure you have consistency from month to month, rather then one amazing month and one thats just at par. We like to keep our price point below $100 a month and above $30.
  • We’ll need to go more virtual for customer service.  Consumers are still going to be demanding.  So, lets meet that demand with virtual support, and FAQ areas, and various how to videos to alleviate phone calls.
  • Brand Transparency and Authenticity is critical.  Since our clients are among the elite of the elite, this is normally never an issue. However, now more than ever its crucial to have a clean brand across the boards and to be authentic in your communication
  • Social Media will change a bit. There is going to be a facebook revolt — and we’re ready for it.  There are just too many people on facebook with too much personal information.  For the clients that most of you are after, more private social sites like Affluence.com will serve us better
  • Virtual event sales will rise drastically — these are the live video events and events on virtual worlds like SecondLife.com
  • Mobile marketing will start to become mainstream.  This is the hottest marketing trend out there right now.
  • Physical book sales will decline — virtual sales will flourish.  Having your book available on the Kindle for example is necessary
  • It will be an up-and down economy — so fasten your seat belt for a fun ride!

Wishing you a healthy and prosperous 2010,

Michael Tasner, and the Taz Solutions, Inc. Team

What is Second Life?

January 24, 2008 | Multiple Streams of Traffic, Web 2.0, second life | 0 Comments »

Second Life is a 3-D, virtual reality world that is created entirely by the residents.  You can socialize,  interact and chat with the other users.   The web site was developed in 2003 by a company called Linden Labs.   It’s still very new to everyone but has been picking up some steam since 2006 with all of the media attention it has been getting.

Why are we talking about a virtual world on a marketing blog?  Simple, second life should be considered one of your secret marketing weapons.  There are still very few businesses on second life and even fewer of them understand how to use it to drum up business for their products or services.

Second Life has its own economy with real estate and currency.  The currency used in second life is called Linden Dollars.  266 Linden Dollars equals 1 US dollar.   Owning land in second life is the same as in real life.  You need to pay monthly fees or “taxes”  in order to do so.

We expect over the next 3-5 years that second life land will become a premium and the leaders in the marketplace will have a well established space.  As of today, there are several large companies on second life (Cisco, Microsoft, Apple)  that are using it to promote their products.  We expect the number of businesses that are using second life to market their products and services to increase ten fold.  Check it out, you will be glad you did!

A New Year – To Higher Profits Online in 2008

January 11, 2008 | Multiple Streams of Traffic, web analytics | One Comment »

Hey Everyone:

I hope you had a nice new years and that your year is off to a great start thus far!  The year 2008 is going to be a great year for everyone, I can feel it!

I’m going to start off this year with a mini homework assignment for you. This assignment will be used throughout the year to keep you on track and provide some benchmarks in going forward.

1. Organize an excell file of your web stats for the year 2007 focusing on a few key numbers:

  • Number of Visitors
  • Number of Unique Visitors
  • Total Hits
  • Traffic Sources

You want to be able to quickly know how many people on average come to your web site on a given month (unique vistors)  how many pages they look at (number of hits on average) and where they are coming from.

I really want you to pay particular attention to the traffic sources.  Where does most of your traffic come from?   Are they directly typing in your address, or are they coming from somewhere else?  And where is that somewhere else?

It’s our goal at Taz Solutions to not only help you increase your traffic and sales, but also spread out your risk a bit.  You never want the bulk of your traffic coming from one place.

Stay tuned, more information coming back at you soon.

Why Do You need Multiple Streams of Traffic™ ?

November 2, 2007 | Multiple Streams of Traffic | 0 Comments »

Hopefully you have noticed the title of our blog – Multiple Streams of Traffic™. Most likely you are thinking, what the heck does it mean?

You run a flower shop in the Buffalo, NY area. You rely on two types of customers – the ones that know where your store is located that come in and patronage you often and the ones that do a google search for Flower Shop Buffalo.  You know you will always be in the top because you pay .50 cents per click for a variety of keywords.

Now imagine, what if the good city of Buffalo decided to do a MAJOR construction project right out-side your store, customers now have limited access to get to you, if they really want to get to you they will need to spend an extra ten minutes to do so. But wait, you have two main competitors within a mile of you and there is NO construction there. What do you think is going to happen? You are most likely going to lose some business.

Most business owners wouldn’t be able to sleep well at night in this situation – BUT if you diversified yourself, spread your eggs across different baskets you would be safe. You would have your google ad words account going, a yahoo account going, some postcard marketing to gain new customers, at the same time focusing your efforts on your current customers- sending them hand written notes, and a week later an email. You are using a variety of tactics to make sure you do in fact get Multiple Streams of Traffic™ to your store and your web site.

What if one day (it would be a dark one) Google went out of business? They closed up shop and said, we just cant do it anymore. They simply bowed their heads down to Yahoo.

If 95% of your business was coming from Google, you might as well close your doors as well, along with millions of others.

Why put yourself in that type of situation? Yes, we understand the chances of Google going out of business are slimmer than a shaving of ice, BUT it still could happen.

If you were using Multiple Streams of Traffic™ you would be relaxed knowing that your online press releases were bringing you business, that your email opt in list of 20,000 is worth its weight in and that your top ten organic rankings across ALL the search engines keep you in business.

The fact of the matter is, you need to be using Multiple Streams of Traffic to not only keep yourself diversified, but to make sure you are making as much money as your possibly can. If you are using only one source of marketing or traffic, strategically adding another one or two should skyrocket your sales!
