Is Marketing Changing?

Book Review | One Comment »

I just finished reading Seth Godins book – Meatball Sundae.  It’s an awesome book – you should check it out. Click the link to view it on Amazon.com.  Meatball Sundae: Is Your Marketing out of Sync?

Seth talks about how the old marketing (marketing to the masses)  just doesn’t cut it anymore.  For businesses to thrive they must embrace the concepts of “New Era Marketing.”

At Taz Solutions we have always preached to our clients that doing the same old things doesn’t cut it  - you need to “keep up with the times.”  Customers want things quicker, they want better customer service and they want to be able to buy from you from multiple places with one click of the mouse.  Amazon.com does this very well.  They provide top notch service, customize pages and recommendations just for you and allow you to buy with one click.  Top that off with free shipping when you spend over $25 and you’ve got a rock solid online business.

Walmart.com is a different story.  While Wal Mart has some of the best prices in the world, they have not been nearly as successful (online) as a company like Amazon.com. Their online platform came too late and unfortunately is still not up to speed.

Yes, they did sell quite a bit online at Christmas time, but not nearly as many people use walmart.com year round as they do with amazon.com

Key note – embrace the new ways of marketing and doing business online or expect to loose sales to your competitors who do!
